From blah to beautiful, this kitchen’s transformation not only updated the look but rearranged the way the room functioned.  The homeowner knew from the day they bought the house that the all white kitchen would have to be remodeled.  In the process, the workspace was improved.   Warm Alderwood cabinets with raised panel fronts and bronze hardware replaced the sterile white cabinetry.  This room has certainly banished the blahs and become elegant as well as more useful.  Read more and see more photos of this project.

Just like in Jericho, the walls came tumbling down in this older home. Four rooms become one, providing a much more up to date open area with space for living, dining and cooking.  This remodel completely changed the look at feel of the entire home!  The homeowners wanted a large open area for entertaining and that is exactly what they got.  This new open kitchen is not only much more functional and pleasing to the eye, and but will also greatly increase the home’s value. When the water heater in the attic sprung a leak damaging the most of the master bathroom, the homeowners decided it was time for a complete remodel.  It was way past time to replace the builder grade white melamine cabinets and standard beige tile.  The bathroom now features custom designed marble tile shower and floors.  A special feature is the heated tile floor to keep them warm throughout the winter.  I guess something good comes out of everything.

After months of searching, the Devlin’s found this Preston house with a huge wooded lot and the perfect location, but unfortunately the home was not large enough for their family and was in desperate need of an update. After consulting with TrendMark to evaluate the possibilities for the house, they decided to purchase the home and move forward with an extensive whole house remodel and addition. TrendMark successfully implemented all of the necessary improvements to the home to create the perfect combination of a beautiful home, large yard, and convenient location. The remodeling project included a 2-story 1600-square foot rear addition to give their family the much needed additional space.

First thought was panic, second thought…call TrendMark.  When the homeowner returned home to see the sheetrock dripping off the ceiling and walls on the first and second floors of their home, they thought the entire house was going to fall.    A leak in the water heater in the attic had wrecked havoc on almost the entire house.  Repairs were made throughout the first and second story to not only renovate, but improve at every step possible.

Calming and reassuring the homeowner was the most major difficultly encountered.  After an emergency visit, they were reassured that not only could the house be complete repaired, it would be even better.  It was the perfect opportunity   Every effort was made to create a seamless repair in the ceiling, walls and floors and make improvements wherever possible.

The homeowner dreamed of a huge kitchen with the biggest island possible to serve as a meeting place for their family and friends.  As part of a larger two story additions, this kitchen was enlarged and completely remodeled.  The result is the perfect area for cooking and entertaining.

In the kitchen a coffered ceiling with canned lighting hovers over a huge 8’ square island with dark black rubbed cabinetry softened by Brazilian Giallo ornamental granite brimming with golds, creams and browns accented by black and gray swirls. The legged island houses pass-through cabinetry, an undermounted farmhouse sink with a bronze faucet, and a GE dishwasher, while an extended side provides casual eating space.  This awesome kitchen reinforces the lasting quality of good design, providing both beauty and function.

Showcasing Triangle Achievements in Remodeling – 2011 Gold STAR Award for Best Kitchen

Only two columns bracketing an eating island hint at the walls’ removal.

The new predominately white kitchen has shaker cabinetry (including glass-fronted cabinet doors, an appliance garage and appliance panels), white quartz countertops, white subway tile backsplash, and a deep pantry cabinet with pull-out drawers. In the center of the area a huge green island contains cabinets, drawers, open shelves, wine storage, electrical outlets, dishwasher, farmhouse sink, and white quartz countertop, trimmed with mission-styled gate legs and nestled under pendant lighting. Top-of-the-line stainless steel Viking appliances include a bottom mount 36” refrigerator/freezer, a dishwasher, a 36” six burner duel fuel range, a range hood, and an undercounter drawer-style microwave. A two-handle pot filler is conveniently mounted above the range. Warm wood flooring adds to the coziness of the areas while canned and undercounting lighting brighten the area. A large built-in stained and glazed pantry provides additional storage in the breakfast area. This newly remodeled open kitchen is not only much more functional and pleasing to the eye, and but will also greatly increase the home’s value.

2011 Gold STAR Award Best Kitchen $50,000 – $60,000

This is one of TrendMark’s FIVE Gold STAR (Showcasing Triangle Achievements in Remodeling) Awards from the Home Builders Association’s 19th Annual STAR Awards Gala at the Renaissance Raleigh Hotel.

2011 Gold STAR Award Best Kitchen $50,000 – $60,000

From blah to beautiful, this kitchen’s transformation not only updated the look but rearranged the way the room functioned.  The homeowner knew from the day they bought the house that the all white kitchen would have to be remodeled.  In the process, the workspace was improved.   Warm Alderwood cabinets with raised panel fronts and bronze hardware replaced the sterile white cabinetry.

Glass fronted display cabinets turned a desk area into an attractive serving area complete with wine cooler. Countertops of Santa Cecilia granite with its veins of black, gold, green and cream and its elegant beveled edge warm the room’s ambiance. Livingston travertine gold tiles fill the backsplash area with aged iron accents. Stainless double wall ovens replace the former single white wall oven, and a new larger stainless refrigerator offers more food storage. The stainless undermounted sink is topped by an Aberdeen high arc, pull–down faucet in an oil rubbed bronze finish, delivering a rich, dark brown, old world finish. Mini-pendant bronze chandeliers hover over the island. This room has certainly banished the blahs and become elegant as well as more useful.

Community Service at its BEST!

Great things are happening in the Triangle Area and TrendMark is very excited to take part! The Remodelers Council is teaming up with George to the Rescue and NBC’s Today Show to help a family in need.  The outpouring of generosity is truly amazing and the results will be life changing for a very deserving couple.   The NBC Today Show interviewed the couple last fall and after hearing their story they decided to team up with the local Remodelers Council to provide them with a much needed renovation to make their home wheelchair accessible.

George to the Rescue

George to the Rescue

This project will help Rachelle and Chris, an engaged couple in Knightdale. As part of her upcoming wedding, Rachelle was celebrating her bachelorette party when tragedy struck last summer. A close friend who was attending the party playfully pushed Rachelle into a shallow pool. Rachelle entered the pool and hit her head, suffering a C6 spinal cord injury. She can no longer move or feel anything below her collarbone.

This newly renovated home will be revealed to Chris and Rachelle LIVE on the February 22nd episode of the Today Show during the 8 am hour. George to the Rescue, a half hour show, will air on April 2nd.

Gold STAR Award Winner – Best Bathroom

2010 Gold STAR Winner Best Bathroom Remodel

Soothing but dramatic, this master bath remodel started with added floor footage and a redesigned skylight opening that now dominates the room. Bianco pietre travertine tiles in browns and creams cover the walls surrounding the soaker bath and oversized shower, as well as the tub surround and floor. The variations in size (tiny on the tub surround and shower floor as well as in the decorative inserts, horizontal and diagonal 12” tiles on the walls with a smaller 6” diagonal in a band at tub top height) add to the elegance of the room. Persian pearl granite covers the new double vanity with its undermounted sinks and bronze hardware. Cream glazed cabinetry, canned lighting and bronze fixtures over the sinks complete the look. The end result is roomy and inviting but most of all exquisite.

Gold Star Winner-Best Whole House Remodel

This whole house remodel included the entire lower level of the home, including the living room and dining room, front staircase, family room, and kitchen as well as a new powder room for guests.  The main show place of the remodel was the stunning new kitchen.

White oak hardwood floors flowing into the nearby living area begin the palette for this renewed gathering space. The wall between was shortened to provide floor-to-ceiling storage, with a new peninsula counter for beverage service, including a wine cooler and bar sink.  Cherry wood custom cabinetry provides plenty of storage, and hammered glass inserts add interest here and there. Stainless steel appliances include a gourmet six burner stove with double ovens, a double door refrigerator, microwave, and oven.

Who says small spaces can’t be stunning? Take away outdated wallpaper, open up the room, rearrange the floor plan and, voilà, you have a new master bath! Make it elegant with travertine tile on the floor, wainscoted walls, and tub surround. Update the shower with frameless glass doors, rain and wand showerheads, a shelf for shampoo and a seat for comfort. Move the double sink vanity in front of the windows, put it in chic chest cabinetry, top it with granite and suspend a chandelier overhead. An outside wall of windows and dramatic beams set the tone for this home’s renovation. Taking advantage of the natural assets of the open floor plan, the interior brick walls and the great light coming through the windows, oak hardwood floors form the base for the update of this 1970’s house. The brick wall in the end of the living room was completely removed, including the existing hearth and a Crema Marfil marble surround on the fireplace was used to create a stunning background for the room’s furniture. A new stone gas set was added to set the tone for peaceful living room setting to watch birds over the lake.  This beautifully renovated contemporary home is a perfect example of the value of updating an older home!
